Matured in ex-Bourbon and Sherry casks, with water from St Drosdan’s Well. A deep amber colour, a malty and spicy nose, a mouth sweet, malty and spicy with traces of berry fruit, a long and clean aromatic aftertaste with notes of caramel, malt and honey.
A nose with hints of Oloroso Sherry, raisins, cinnamon, malt notes and wood. A dry mouth with Sherry, honey, spices, nutmeg, dried apricots and raisins, an aftertaste of medium length with traces of winter spices and sweet tannins.
A timeless, now discontinued 10 year old single malt dram of the distillery’s range since the early 1980s created by David Stewart, The Balvenie Malt Master, from a marriage of The Balvenie single malt matured in Bourbon casks with that matured in Sherry casks.
Matured in oak casks for 15 years, it spent a further decade in Balvenie’s warehouses. Each cask formed a limited edition of up to 250 hand-numbered bottles.
The Balvenie DoubleWood is a 12 year old single malt which gains its distinctive character from being matured in two wood types. Over the period of maturation it is transferred from a traditional oak whisky cask to a first fill European oak Sherry cask. Each stage lends different qualities to the resulting single malt: The traditional casks soften and add character, whilst the Sherry wood brings depth and fullness of flavour. A fine dram from the distillery located in Dufftown, Speyside.

This SMOOTH single malt has an elegant full taste and aroma that captures FRUITY, floral and OAK WOOD NOTES, with fascinating overtones of honey, vanilla and SPICE.
Matured in the traditional style in AMERICAN BOURBON barrels, this whisky is then ‘finished’ in DARK RUM barrels, sourced from the Caribbean island of JAMAICA. During this second period of maturation, the whisky derives many interesting CHARACTERISTICS specific to the Dark Rum barrel. With only a LIMITED number of bottles made available world-wide, the Dark Rum Finish is part of the first BenRiach ‘Wood Finish Series’, released November 2006. The other ‘finishes’ included in the series are Pedro Ximenez Sherry, Madeira and Aged Tawny Port.
