Based on herbs, aromatic plants and fruits in alcohol and water, this gentle spirit is one of the best aperitifs worldwide and a key component of many favorite cocktails.
This fine French aperitif wine is a blend of 85% Bordeaux wines (Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Muscadelle) and 15% macerated liqueurs, mostly citrus liqueurs from the peels of sweet oranges from Spain and Morocco and the peels of bitter green oranges from Haiti. Lillet Blanc was reformulated in 1987 in order to lower the sugar content and bitterness, with the assistance of the Oenology Institute of Bordeaux Segalen University.
Launched on New Year's Day in 1900, Martini Extra Dry includes the usual Martini white wine base and herbal ingredients, but with a much reduced level of additional sugar for a dry, yet not bitter, vermouth.
Martini Extra Dry is best served ice cold –and it is one of the two key ingredients in one of the most famous cocktails in the world: The Dry Martini Cocktail.
