A golden colour, a nose full of peat, vanilla, smoke and sweet raisins. A sweet, peated palate with hints of salt, coffee and vanilla, a very long and rich aftertaste with presence of fruit, peat and oak.
Originally released around 2000, this great dram is becoming rarer and rarer. Laphroaig 30 yo has garnered many plaudits, including a Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2005.
Incredible Islayer from a double maturation in two American oak casks. Still-maturing whisky from the standard ex-Bourbon casks of the house is transferred to quarter casks (they are almost 30% bigger than their standard barrels) and left to rest in their warehouse a breath away from the Atlantic shore.
Traditionally distilled twice the Scotch way from malt dried entirely over a peat fire, Longrow was first distilled at Springbank distillery in 1973. In limited availability (12.120 bottles) and in the number of the drams with a strong peaty character, it is highly collectable and precious. This cask strength dram was matured for 5 1/2 years in Bourbon casks and it was then left for another 18 months in Gaja Barolo casks.
